These black ants have been such a relief during all the cool months of the year. Unlike the red colored seed harvester ants that appear in the warm and hot months, these ones don't bite or sting. They're always very busy and organized in their activities, but they keep to themselves whereas the others are always very intent on climbing and attacking me and anything liquid or edible that I leave anywhere on the ground or within a few feet of height.
