Pick Leverage on Bicycle Tool to Loosen Wheel Nut
Where there is a will there's a way. I almost gave up on trying to get this wheel off, being afraid I was stripping the nut and making the situation worse. I had a thought to lever-up with another tool. I just couldn't get any leverage and power with this tiny nut removal tool. I'm sure it would work great for a less stubborn nut, but it was useless at this point. After scouring around for something that might work, trying a few things to no avail, I had the intention of finding something, anything that would extend my leverage and have the ability to sort-of slot or latch into this chain of tools with me at the end.
After finding my pick, like magic, after getting a snug fit and getting into position, a smooth fluid motion allowed the nut to spiral off effortlessly. Just gravity and my steady hold on the pick made for easy work. Just one of those moments where I'm reminded that so often right at when you're most frustrated and ready to give up, the miracle happens, and you celebrate your good luck. I got lucky this time, and I'll know what to do again if I ever have too, however, it's also an important motivation to get more of the right tools for the job and not have to be so close to ruin next time.
