15 Brick Rocket Stove 01
Rocket Stoves
This is one of the simplest ways to build a rocket stove. I've built and used this technology at many scales, though for a beginner on a budget or with minimal tools, this so a great starter system. The concept is that to greatly increase the efficiency of a small fire to cook food or boil water, the better you're able to channel the heat directly to the pot, pan, kettle, etc, the less time and fuel is needed to get the job done. So here, a tiny fire made by pushing into the flame small twigs one after another results in a rocket like flame that very efficiently draws oxygen to the fire, burns hotter and concentrates the heat where you want it. The bricks absorb and old heat as well but mainly insulate the heat from being lost to the atmosphere.
These are great for backyard gatherings and camp outs, emergency power-outages, and much more. They're easy to build and dismantle, though the weight makes other systems such as the coffee and soup can a better option for mobility.
