One of the beneficial side effects of being off-road and off-grid is that you tend to want to make the most of any and all items from your waste stream. For me, I wear out my clothes to the very most extreme possible end. One way to do that is to have a couple of pairs of each article of clothing, that way when one of them gets too worn out to wear, it becomes a scrap yard for parts made of the same material. So I keep a pile of worn out clothes that I can scavenge through when I need to replace a button, or a pocket, or even an arm or a leg of the next article of clothing when it loses are part or wears a part out. Eventually I'll just be one patch of patches.
