Wild Desert Coyote Upclose At Base Camp
The are so many wild coyotes out here, howling and communicated over miles and miles. Sometimes laughing and carrying on in large groups, some times walking a long in solitude. They've been very mellow and friendly. I don't get too close, however they're almost never too shy to walk right past me within about 20 feet. If I whistle they'll look up and lock on me with curious eye contact for a minute or so, then come towards me to get a closer look, or go about their business, but rarely to do they shy away. I'd like to think there's a kind acknowledgment if not some kind of bond. I admire and look up to their freedom and independence, we're both mammals, but they're far more skilled at desert survival than I am. I have a lot to learn, and I'm grateful when they teach me.
